Wayne Grotski didn’t like what he saw as he looked out at the North Saskatchewan River. The Edmonton Fire Rescue captain and his crew were called to the scene for a potential rescue of a man walking on the thin ice. No rescue was needed, but Grotski yelled at the man to come on shore and then let him have it as a CTV News crew rolled video.
“You know your stupidity cost us a lot of s***,” Grotski passionately explains in the video. “What happens if you go through that ice? And now we gotta try to save your a** and we put ourselves in danger because we don’t even know who you are but you’re out there doing stupid s***.”
“I didn’t look at it that way,” replies the man, dressed in a parka and tuque and wearing a backpack.
“I know you don’t but now you will, will you not?” Grotski asks.
