Caught on video: Woman tries to get into burning townhouse to look for her dogs

Denna Ramsey, the owner of three dogs, wasn’t about to settle for firefighters saving only one of the animals when Ramsey’s townhouse in Houston burned and collapsed during a three-alarm fire on Friday. Ramsey tried to go into the burning home herself and got in the face of whoever would listen to her plea to save the other two dogs. You can see what happened in the video above and the one below.

It’s easy to get upset about the fact that Ramsey seems to put the safety of her dogs over the well-being of the firefighters. By all indications on the various videos, firefighters and police realize they were dealing with a distraught person who just lost two animals precious to her, in addition to her home and belongings being destroyed. They didn’t appear to take it personally and did their best to deescalate the situation as best they could. Firefighters eventually found one of the two dogs dead in the townhouse and did not discover the third by the time these reports were filed.

Rescuehumor.com posted this story and asked how you would deal with someone like this at your fire scene? From what I see here, it looks like this was handled well in Houston.

I’m sure some would say to arrest the woman for interference. You could. But that likely would be seen very differently by some in the public. The headline and tone of the story might have been very negative and the image it presents could have been a tough one to deal with.
