The views of a member of Lloydsville Volunteer Fire Department in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania about the use of Narcan to save overdose victims are causing problems. According to WTAE-TV, Don Smith posted his thoughts yesterday (Wednesday) morning on social media (above) and was suspended later in the day.
The fire department took to Facebook to provide it’s response about the incident (see below).
He called the people who are given Narcan worthless junkies and said they made the choice to stick the needle in their arm.
Schultheis said Smith will likely be terminated. He said he doesn’t believe Smith’s views caused anyone to die on any of the calls he made because there are always other personnel at the scene.
