A multi-alarm fire severely damaged a 19th century firehouse in Washington, DC last (Friday) night. The fire was at the old Engine 12 on North Capitol Street. It hasn’t been an active firehouse since 1987. The firehouse has been repurposed multiple times, including as a restaurant. The fire occurred while it was under construction during its latest redevelopment. This version includes an adjacent apartment building.

Tom Lynch and Matthew Stabley, NBC4/WRC-TV:

One firefighter declared mayday and was rescued by another firefighter. All firefighters are accounted for.
