A D.C. government photo of Chief Ronnie Few with the man who appointed him, former Mayor Tony Williams.

All about Ronnie.
That’s the title of an old Chris Connor tune, but but it could be the title of our look at the latest dust-up involving former D.C. Fire & EMS Chief Ronnie Few. Few, who so far has been identified as Ronnie Sew and Ron Hew, has been hired as Demopolis, Alabama’s new fire chief. Once they got the name right, the local paper found a “Few” things in the chief’s past. Three council members now say they wished knew about all of this before they voted.

After telling a reporter he would be late because he had a doctor’s appointment, Chief Few did show on Monday for his first day on the job and is now considered a full time employee of the city. A special meeting of the city council is scheduled for tonight to discuss Few’s hiring. An editorial says that meeting should be open to the public.

Firegeezer also has more suggestions for those who are on the front line of dealing with the public. As someone with experience in this area, I would add the need for knowing the geography and generally being able to think beyond what shows up on the computer screen.
